About

Guerlain is a family name that has been seen on some fine perfumes since 1828. The company under this name started to produce and sell perfumes in Paris, France when its founder, Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain opened his first perfume store that same year. With the help of his two sons, Pierre-Francois managed to quickly establish his company as a reputable perfume store with great fragrances that didn’t went unnoticed by members of France’s high society at that time. That privilege helped Guerlain to reach the highest point of success, becoming the official perfumer for the royal family of Napoleon III. In 1853, with the release of Eau de Cologne, Gurlain gained even greater commercial popularity and a bright future ahead. When Pierre-Francois dyed, his two sons took over Guerlain in 1864 and continued their father’s hard work and dedication. This family tradition continued and predecessor’s standards remained accurate which resulted in creating some excellent fragrances like Rococo (1887), L’Heure Bleue(1912), Habit Rouge (1965) and Samsara (1989). Eventually Guerlain become one of many victims of capitalism and globalization and got purchased by the LVMH group in 1994 and became a part of a family of luxury brands that LVMH owned. Yet, even today Guerlain still promotes some of its older classics in new and modern fragrance editions.

Some new editions of Vetiver have been released this past decade as an improvement of this all time classic.

Perfumes for women Guerlain as an older giant in the perfume industry can rightfully brag with its collection of over 100 female fragrances and their different editions. Starting with the first Eau de Cologne Imperiale, Guerlain went on to make many remarkable and unique fragrances for women like Jicky and Apres L’Ondee. L’Heure Bleue in 1912 was a very innovative fragrance with notes of candies and almond cake. In more recent decades, Chamade was a fragrance that brought back Guerlain among the leaders in the perfume industry and led to creation of Samsara in 1989. However, Shalimar, the newest perfume is responsible for keeping this brand on the very top.
