The story with the Avene thermal water started in 1736 when the Marquis de Rocozel’s horse was healed after a few swims in the spring. And this is how the Avene thermal spring water was discovered.
It was in 1743 when the first patients arrived at the Orb Valley and the Sainte-Odile spring.
In 1871 America discovered the amazing benefits of the thermal spring water and it was used to treat the burnt victims of the Great Chicago Fire.
In 1874 the spring was declared to be of public interest.
1990 marks the start of the renovation of the hydrotherapy centre . It was that same year when the Avene dermatological laboratories started to work.
Between 1993 and 2003 the production of plants expanded.
In 2004 the hydrotherapy centre expanded.
