The Brandstatter Group is the rightful owner of Playmobil toys with its headquarters in Zirndorf, Bavaria. The man behind the idea of Playmobil toys is Hans Becker (1929 – 2009 ), also refereed to as ”the Father of Playmobil. Hans Beck was an experienced cabinet maker, but found admiration in making small model airplanes. These airplane toys were eventually offered in the product assortment of Playmobil, but rejected. However his talent was not overseen by the owner Horst Brandstatter who offered him to come up with an idea of toy figures for children. Over the course of three years that Beck worked at the company, he managed to create what Playmobil represents today. Moreover, Beck created a successful toy that was flexible enough to encourage imagination in children playtime and somehow limited at the same time. Klicky was the name of that toy which enjoyed big success instantly. In 1974 Playmobil launched new sets of knights, Native Americans and construction worker toys. Later that year they were shown at the International Toy Fair where a potential Dutch client decided to buy one year production of the toys. By 1975 the company entered the world market and gained it’s popularity which enjoys today as well. Most of Playmobil toys are very realistic and reflect objects from a certain period of time. Nowadays, Playmobil is a renown name in the toy industry and battles with competition from other brand names like Lego toys.

Toys that Playmobil brand offers are the same characters in terms of dimensions and design but are offered in many different sets each with a different theme. For instance, the most popular theme set is City Action and Life that includes certain scenes from everyday life which kids can play around with using their enormous imagination. Dollhouse is another also a popular theme set, mostly among girls. Other than these, Playmobil counts around 24 sets with different characters and scenes from hospitals to future planets. If the whole set doesn’t look complete to your child or some parts have been damaged, the add-ons section offers buying the same and other additional parts and items to match the set.

Additional way to increase fun, Playmobil offers children many online games on their official Playmobile site that correspond with the scenes from popular sets. The online games are for free and can be played by any kid who has an access to a computer. Many of these are also offered for downloads so that you can have them on your computer without having stable internet connection.
