About
Adidas is the most popular brand of sportswear and sports equipment. The German company was established in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria by Adofl (Adi) Dassler in 1949. Since, this reputable brand has been designing and manufacturing sports shoes, sports clothing and all sorts of sport accessories.
The story of Adidas is really unique. Adolf started making sports shoes for himself in his mother’s wash kitchen. In 1924, his brother, Rudolf return to Herzogenaurach and together they founded the Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory). However, in 1949, Dassler brothers parted their ways and Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik was closed. Adolf Dassler founded Adidas, while his older brother Rudolf founded Puma. Since, these two sportswear brands have been great rivals in the sports industry.
The secret to Adolf Dassler’s success is his devotion to making the shoewear that meets the needs of athletes by meeting with them and taking into account athletes’ suggestions. This is how he has earned the trust of many world-known athletes. Adidas quickly became a known name all over the world and it did by providing only high quality sportswear. The brand is also known for introducing product innovations for every single major sports event.
In the beginning, Adidas footwear was the most popular product category of the brand, as Adolf has been working on providing various footwear suited for almost every discipline/sport. Over the years, the 3-Stripes brand was focusing on other sports as well. Aside from some of the best football players in the world, the Argentinian and German national team rely on Adidas, the finalists of 2014 World Cup final. Today, the three-stripes brand is holding the rights of Reebok sportswear brand, TaylorMade-Adidas golf company, Rockport and 9.1% of one of the world’s greatest football teams – FC Bayern Munich.
