Blundstone is a Tasmanian family-owned company founded in 1870. It all started when John and Eliza decided to leave the rain in England for the rain in Melbourne, but they were blown off course and ended up in Hobart. Eventually, it turned out to be a true blessing.

While the brand may be known for the elastic-sided soft and safety toe boots, the extensive range includes gumboots, lace-up safety boots, sneakers and heavy industrial footwear as well, providing superior quality and protection from heat, cuts, penetration, rolling forces, chemicals, oils and fats. Apart from work and safety boots, the brand offers casual boots as well, and in their boot series, you can find the original series, dress series, men’s, women’s and women’s safety series, kids’ series, zip-up series and anniversary series.

As a heritage company, they have embraced new technologies but actively engineered their comfort and safety solutions. The sole construction of their footwear is designed and engineered to reduce fatigue and orthopaedic problems in the lower back, legs and feet. It includes XRD® Extreme Impact Protection, a lightweight, thin and breathable cushioning material engineered for repeated impact and shock absorption, providing impact protection on the heel and ball of the foot while still enabling ultimate flexibility. The company continues to lead the way in the next generation safety boots and worked alongside Australian underground miners and found out what they need. Featuring world-leading technologies they introduced the 980 Underground Mining Boot. These boots won the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences Award and Australia’s oldest and most prestigious award for design and innovation – Best in Category (Product Design – Commercial and Industrial) at the coveted Good Design Awards 2015. Winner of the NSW Mining Innovation Award 2014 as well, these boots have fundamentally changed the way mining boots are made.
