The story of this big company begins in 1983 in Portland where Tim Leatherman and Steve Berliner founded it and named it – Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. These two smart guys started this business with several main principles: to manufacture the highest quality products at competitive prices that can satisfy the needs of every customer while keeping their staff satisfied.
The very same year Leatherman sold their first Pocket Survival Tool (PST) and this marked the beginning of their successful story. Thirty years later, Leatherman is still standing strong in the U.S market, manufacturing the extremely popular multi-tools and knives that can be used for any type of job you want. Even though Tim is now retired, the principles of this company are still the same, and when asked about the company’s devotion to quality, he says that the products need to be perfect since it’s his name on it.

Ever since the first Leatherman’s pocket survival tool was manufactured in 1983, Leatherman has been offering warranty of 25 years that covers pretty much everything expect for loss, theft, abuse and unreasonable use.
The company has created the Raptor which is a special tool designed for paramedics and other medical professionals. It looks like a large pair of scissors that includes medical shears, a ring cutter, a strap cutter, an oxygen tank wrench and a hard-pointed glass breaker.
