Marc Jacobs, born on April 9th, 1963 in New York is an American fashion designer known for his very non-traditional and outstanding designs. From an early age Marc had fancied fashion world since he grew up in an artistic family – his grandfather was a scriptwriter in the “Metro Goldwyn Mayer”, and his parents, agents in the largest theatrical agency owned by his uncle. When he was only seven years old, Marc’s world crashed with the death of his father and many failed relationships and marriages his mother had following the death of her husband. He soon moved in with his paternal grandparents and the greatest influence over his interest in fashion has his grandmother. Soon after graduating from the prestigious design school “Parsons” in New York, Marc was assigned a chief designer position of Perry Ellis’s woman’s line. While working here, Marc launched his first collection in 1986 and became a hit overnight. A year after leaving Perry Ellis in 1993, Marc opened his own company and soon his first store. In 1997 he was appointed a chief designer for a luxury brand, Louis Vuitton where he stills contributes with his innovative, classic yet rebellious style.
