Japanese cars have drastically improved their market shares on foreign markets. A true example of this is Mazda. Mazda Motor Corporation, originally known as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. was founded in Japan in 1920. This company was focused mainly on producing machine tools, but all that changed a decade later, in 1931 with official introduction of the first Mazda model – Mazda-go. When World War II began, the company was forced to start producing guns for army troops. Consequently, Mazda models were put on hold for production but only for several years. But Mazda’s story of success didn’t stop there. The popular Mazda R360 was released in 1960 and the company officially changed its name to Mazda around 1984. Mazda’s step ahead is considered to be the development of Wankel rotary engine as a method of differentiating from its competitors. As a matter of fact, this did help Mazda to establish solid customer bases in foreign markets like USA and Canada. Even though Mazda models were driven in these countries, it was not until 1970 that Mazda officially entered USA market and instantly made an impact in the car business. From 1979 until 2010, Mazda had partnership with Ford, exchanging assets and knowledge to improve their battle with German car brands. Today, Mazda is a worldwide brand and its models can be seen in almost every country. In Australia, Mazda 3 was number one selling vehicle for two consecutive years due to its low fuel economy and excellent Mazda car service.
