About
Founded in 1999 in Finland, Metso is a world-known supplier of advanced automation technologies, services and machines for customers involved in the construction, oil, gas and mining industries. The main goal of Metso is to contribute for a better world by using the natural resources and recycled materials in order to create valuable products.
Although the roots of the company go back to 1750, Metso was officially established in 1999. In the beginning, Metso was a supplier of forestry machines, fiber technology equipment, rock crushers and valve-control systems. As the company was growing, the range of products was growing as well. In 2001, the new management divided Metso in three business areas: Machinery, Automation and Control Technology and Fiber and Paper technology. However, the main focus for the future was the production of the needed equipment for the construction, recycling and mining industry, and automation and control systems for the material processing industry.
Today, Metso is divided into two large business sectors or segments: Mining and Construction equipment and Automation Technology. With over 16,000 experienced employees in more than 50 countries around the world, Metso is one of the most successful companies today. The estimated net sales in the early 2014 are $3.9 million, of which 78% come from the Mining and Construction business.
Products
As mentioned above, Metso is divided into two large segments/businesses: Mining and Construction and Automation.
Metso Mining And Construction – The growth of Metso certainly depends on this business sector, because it generated a huge sales net in the recent years. This segment includes minerals processing solutions, crushing and screening equipment and various services for these two industries. Here are the most popular Metso mining and construction solutions:
- Crushing Solutions: From jaw and cone crusher to large mobile plants, Metso provides its customers powerful and efficient crusher models and crusher parts. Metso offers products and solutions from popular crusher brands like Barmac, Lokotrack, Nordberg and Superior. Whether for mining or construction application, the crushing solutions by Metso are considered as the best.
- Screening Solutions: The screening solutions from Metso are also widely used. Mobile screens, roller screens, new mining screen range, unit screens and vibrating screens, all available in configurations suitable for mining and construction applications. The screening equipment from Metso is suitable for both mobile and stationary crushing plants.
- Conveying Solutions: The Metso conveying solutions are well-accepted by many people involved in the mining and construction business. Conveying is the most common method for transporting material in the mineral procession operations. To convey wet, dry or sticky material, Metso provides the right conveying solution, while satisfying the customer’s wear protection requirements.
Metso Automation – The second segment of Metso provides a variety of solutions and services, including process industry flow control solutions, automation management systems and applications. However, the Metso Automation segment is consisted of three important businesses: Flow Control, Process Automation Systems and Services. Flow Control has always been the number one business, as it generates most sales per year. Metso Automation enables its customers to get more output with less input (labor, energy, materials), while being environmentally-friendly and maximizing the uptime.
