About

French manufacturer Microcar was founded in 1984 as a new project of the Beneteau group whose primary market was the sailboat industry. As the company progressed a new custom built factory was opened in September 2000. Eight years after, in September 2008 Microcar was merged with Ligier Automobiles who saw great potential in this unique car business. This investment by Ligier Automobiles had proven to be very successful as Microcar became the second biggest manufacturer of micro cars, generating profits and creating a quality image for the brand. Although these two merged companies enjoyed great success together, they created and have built their brands separately. As a result, Microcar is today’s symbol for the best smallest car on the market. These ‘miniature’ car models not only raise attention whereever driven, but also are ideal for easy and fast movement in large cities and big traffic jams. Today Microcar is the leader in producing small or micro cars and is incorporating innovative auto-manufacturing machines in order to keep up with the increased demand for its product. The unique and practical design offers absolute comfort and fulfills all safety standards.

Products

The Microcar MC1/MC2 – These two models of Microcar were first presented in UK in April 2004 and November 2006, respectively. It is interesting to point out that, apart from one little difference in design, these two Microcar models are the same. The only difference is that the Microcar MC1 doesn’t have standard individual front seats. Instead, the interior includes a full bench front seat, something that we don’t see every day. The engine specifications in terms of horse power and other engine details are not as impressive as in a regular-sized car due to its size. The practical size of these vehicles and the fact that they can fit into places where regular-sized cars cannot, is what makes them popular among car lovers. Following the initial success and familiar model, two years after the MC2 was introduced, Microcar manufactured a limited edition of micro cars named Highland. The major improvement was done mostly on the body of the car itself such as new front-end rear bumpers and rails on the roof.

The Microcar M.GO

In the year 2010, the Microcar MC2 was replaced by a new and modern looking model, the Microcar M.GO. From the moment it was introduced on the market and to the car industry, Microcar M.GO exceeded the popularity of previous models, mainly due to various improvements in terms of performance and design. Not only was this model the new smallest car , but it was also the lightest car among micro cars., which is why, at first people considered it to be an electric car. The model has slight improvements in engine specification and performance and is available with either two front seats or a family four-seat making it a great competitor to the other micro cars manufacturers like Mini and Smart.
