About
Wrangler was established in 1947 by Blue Bell, a manufacturing company focused on denim clothing with one simple goal in mind – to manufacture the best 5-pocket jeans. Many trends have come and gone, but Wrangler’s focus has remained the same – producing high-quality jeans, which has given the company its iconic status.

It all started in 1904, when a factory worker by the name of CC Hudson set up the Hudson Overall company that dedicated itself to producing durable, high-quality work clothes for America’s railway workers. It wasn’t long before the company saw a sales boom and an increasing demand for the company’s denim. 15 years later, the company built its first factory and the name was changed to Blue Bell Overall company. That’s when the company revolutionised denim work clothing further with the concept of proportional fit.
Shortly after, the Wrangler authentic western jeans were introduced with the help of renown designer Rodeo Ben, which were endorsed by rodeo stars like Bill Linderman and Jim Shoulders who helped Wrangler get the reputation for quality and durability. Rodeo Ben also customised western clothes for cowboy film stars in the thirties and forties, and some of his clients included Hopalong Cassidy and Gene Autry. He also designed outfits for country music stars including Jimmy Dean, Hawkshaw Hawkins and rock and roll legend Bill Haley.
By 1996, one of every 5 pair of jeans sold in America was Wrangler. The company slowly expanded and also started manufacturing country shirts Polo shirts, jackets, jumpers and hoodies. So if you’re looking for tops that will seamlessly fit on the beach, a gig, festival or at a semi-formal event, the casual shirts Polo selection will have you covered. As a result, Wrangler has become a one-stop-shop for many western wear enthusiasts.
The company also puts a focus on preserving the environment, and they’re committed to developing and improving their production processes to reduce their carbon footprint. This is done by partnering with Better Cotton Initiative, a company focusing on finding sustainable ways to grow and produce cotton, minimising the effects of pesticides, fertilisers, improving water efficiency, natural habitats and soil health. The Better Cotton Initiative accounts for about 12% of the world’s cotton production.
Furthermore, Wrangler recycles cotton using processes that reduce the amount of energy, water and landfill needed to create recycled cotton styles. On top of recycling cotton, they also recycle about 60% of the water used in the manufacturing process of the suppliers’ factories.
Wrangler Australia is owned by Kontoor Brands, a company committed to Global Compliance Principles that dictate the ethical standards that are expected from approved fabric mills and manufacturing partners.
