Yves Saint Laurent is the French fashion house iconic for introducing pants and tuxedo in womenswear. Founded in 1961 by a young, trend-setting designer, Yves Saint Laurent and his longtime lover, Pierre Berge, the brand became known for its revolutionizing designs, setting new rules in the modern haute couture.
Yves Saint Laurent, the first to introduce elements from men’s fashion into women’s, is considered a founder of the unisex style. In addition to his already rule-braking designs, Yves Saint Laurent was the first to include dark skin models in his advertising campaigns and fashion shows. Before the birth of legendary brand, Yves Saint Laurent was Christian Dior’s assistant. Due to war conditions and his deployment to serve the army, Yves looses his position as a designer at Dior and decides to launch his own collection. Soon, he stands at the head of his own brand. During its rich and creative history, Yves Saint Laurent brand had achieved successes that will remain forever in the fashion world. The philosophy of this fashion house to turn fashion into art, with a mixture of feminine and masculine, classic and trend-setting designs upended the fashion world and still continues to surprise critics and fans. With new creative director, Hedi Slimane and new name, Saint Laurent Paris, is expected to surprise with daring, innovative designs and break fashion rules once again.
